Nasal carriage of various staphylococcal species in small ruminant lentivirus-infected asymptomatic goats

چکیده

The study was carried out in Polish goat population to estimate the prevalence of nasal cavity infection with various staphylococcal species including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA), investigate potential permissive role small ruminant lentivirus (SRLV) and determine level clonality S. aureus isolates. Nasal swabs blood samples were collec-ted from 1300 clinically healthy adult goats 21 herds. Blood serological-ly screened for SRLV. Staphylococci isolated identified using classical microbiological methods, MALDI-TOF, multiplex-PCR, their assessed PFGE. Antimicrobial resistance determined on basis minimum inhibitory concentration by demonstration presence mecA gene encoding multiplex-PCR PBP2a protein five main types cassette chromosome mec. apparent staphylococ-cal 29.1% (CI 95%: 26.9%, 31.5%) 7.3% 6.1%, 8.8%), respectively. No relationship found between SRLV-infection any (p=0.143). Only 9.8% isolates resistant amoxicillin/clavulanic acid 5.9% chloramphenicol ciprofloxacin. All tested proved be phenotypically genotypically sensitive methicillin, which yielded appar-ent MRSA 0% 0%, 7.0%). show high genetic similarity within herds, however vary considerably Goats do not appear an important source humans Poland.

Staphylococcal Nasal Carriage in the Family.

The investigation was conducted between 1956 and 1959 in a small, single-handed general medical practice situated in a pleasant residential area in south Manchester. Thirty-seven families were investigated for periods ranging from 12 to 24 months. Anterior nasal swabs were taken from all members of each household every six weeks-a purely arbitrary interval-while any intercurrent staphylococcal ...

Serological Study on Brucella Spp. and Small Ruminant Lentivirus in Dairy Goats in Vojvodina

The objective of this study was to determine seroprevalence of small ruminant lentivirus (SRLV), Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis infections among dairy goats in South Backa and Srem region in Vojvodina Province. The other aim was to determine the risk factors associated with SRLV infection in investigated herds. A total of 971 serum samples were collected from 8 comercial dairy goat he...

Small ruminant lentivirus proviral sequences from wild ibexes in contact with domestic goats.

Small ruminant lentiviruses (SRLV) are widespread amongst domesticated goats and sheep worldwide, but have not been clearly identified in wild small ruminants, where they might constitute an animal health risk through contamination from local domesticates. SRLV proviruses from three ibexes from the French Alps are described and sequences from their gag gene and long terminal repeats (LTRs) were...

Mannose receptor may be involved in small ruminant lentivirus pathogenesis

Thirty-one sheep naturally infected with small ruminant lentiviruses (SRLV) of known genotype (A or B), and clinically affected with neurological disease, pneumonia or arthritis were used to analyse mannose receptor (MR) expression (transcript levels) and proviral load in virus target tissues (lung, mammary gland, CNS and carpal joints). Control sheep were SRLV-seropositive asymptomatic (n = 3)...
